Chihuly at the Garden

Chihuly, the master of blown glass, has an exhibit at The Desert Botanical Gardens.
The glass sculptures are integrated throughout the various plants along the path and they are just amazing.
We decided to see them both during the day and again at night when they are highlighted with lights.
Many of these pieces are just huge. Some are well over six feet in length or about that in width.
The individual glass "flowers" or "leaves" that make up the plant are intricately designed with swirls, curls and facets to reflect light.
With all this amazing beauty the one question you have to ask is "how do they put these together?" And don't say carefully.
Chihuly, The Nature of Glass
As you walk along the path to the entrance you see these on the hill
They look very real but they're your first glass plants
Same "plants" at night
This is your first piece once you enter the Garden
You just can't resist doing close-ups of the individual glass "petals"
The same piece at night
The colors of the glass are amazing
Yes, the red cactus are glass
Note the "black saguaro" in the midst of the red stalks
At night
I loved these. They look like large birds among the plants with blue eggs
The "blue birds" at night
These "birds" are standing in water. Too bad we didn't get a good shot of their reflections
This was a boat of glass balls. Aptly names "Boat of Balls"
You can see the red and black cactus in the background
The boat at night
It almost looks like it's floating
This large hanging piece was just amazing. Bright orange with a deep blue stem. It's about the size of 3 heads
This piece was so pretty at night
